London Nuffield gets DECT

July
2005 – London Nuffield Hospital (Enfield).
Easyline
Communications Ltd
recently have installed a DECT & paging systems at the London Nuffield
Hospital Enfield for The Wandsworth Group Ltd.
The system consisted of a DECT & Paging system which had to
be integrated with Wandsworth Digital Nurse Call System (DCS) to allow
paging messages to be sent from the nurse call system to the DECT/Pager
handsets to provide communication between patient & nursing staff or hotel
services.
The system functionality was set after conversations with
the end users, making sure the right personnel had the right handsets or
pagers.
The system is capable of sending group calls to a
predetermined groups of staff depending of what type of call has been
raised, i.e. if a standard nurse call signal is raised then a member of the
nursing staff within that particular ward will respond, but if a cardiac
call is raised then the Crash Team though out the hospital would be
contacting via paging message on either a DECT handset or pager depending on
what they carry in both cases the paging message would tell you what type of
call had been raised (Patient, Emergency, Cardiac) & which room & even which
bed if it came from a multi bed room.
In additions to this the client (Nuffield) requested that the
system was able to make paging messages via any hospital telephone. To
achieve this we had to install a telephone coupler to allow an interface
between the paging system & the hospital local PABX, this means by dialling
a predetermined numeric string on any telephone through out the hospital a
paging message can be made to either a group or individual pagers.
